This is what I would call the “behind the scenes” of a digital product. UX design involves how a user interacts with your product, It has to do with how easy a user can perform a task on your digital product from the start to the finish. This is made possible by undergoing necessary research on the users of your product, so as to ensure, you are designing for the right audience.

Business

A business as defined by Investopedia is an organization or enterprising entity engaged in commercial, industrial, or professional activities. Businesses can be for-profit entities or they can be non-profit organizations that operate to fulfill a charitable mission or further a social cause.

The roles of a UX Designer in ensuring the success of a product are:

Criteria for determining a good UX

The following factors should be considered in determining how good the user experience of a product is:

Usability

Is the product’s design, structure, and purpose clear? Does the product have any elements or features that might make it easy to navigate?

Equitability

Does the product make users feel connected to a community? Does the product address the needs of people with diverse abilities?

Enjoyability

Does the product make users feel delighted? Does the product engage users and make them excited to keep using the product?

Useful

Does the product solve the problem of “how to help a busy person working from home select a meal to be delivered?” How does the product help solve this problem?.

Importance of a Good UX design In Business

  • A product with a good user experience encourages the user to keep user the app, for instance Twitter, this app provides users with utmost satisfaction, which makes users get attached to it.
  • It is advisable to fix mistakes in the design stage than after the launch of the product, because the costs of fixing the mistakes is higher. User experience helps you fail fast.
  • Investing in quality UX design can leave users satisfied enough to spread the word and become an advocate for your business or product. Their endorsement may help drive fresh traffic to your site, build credibility, and increase conversions.

So far, telegram provides a greater value for its users compared to other apps which has made it very popular. It provides some features like:

  • Larger group capacity for easy communication: Other chatting apps has a limit for the amount of members in a group.
  • Creating channels for disseminating information.
  • Ability to use more than one profile image: Other chatting apps don’t have this feature has it only allows for one display picture.
  • Creating polls in a group.(which I used in conducting my user research)
  • Creating chat folders.
  • Creating secret chats for privacy of information.
  • Unlimited Cloud storage.
  • Animated emojis, amongst others.

Preventing Bad UX

Usability Testing

Testing your product with real time users continuously helps to know the improvements to be made on the product before the development stage.

User research

Effective User research helps you to understand and have an indepth knowledge of the problem and the users you are designing for, it helps you to work within constraints, provides clear solutions to the problem.

Heuristic Evaluation

A heuristic evaluation is a usability inspection method for computer software that helps to identify usability problems in the user interface (UI) design. It specifically involves evaluators examining the interface and judging its compliance with recognized usability principles (the “heuristics”).
