INTRODUCTION

Getting paid for making use of your talent is very fulfilling. Every individual possess a talent or talents, in art, music, writing, fashion, public speaking amongst other aspects. My case study revolves around the musical talent.

MOTIVATION:

Musical talents vary from singing, playing the piano, guitar, trumpet, drumming amongst others. I have come across different peopl

THE MAIN GOAL OF TALBAN

i) To connect bands in search of musical talents.

ii) To monetize musical talents.

iii) To connect musical talents in search of bands.

iv) To showcase musical talents.

CHALLENGES

My major challenge while designing this app was my inability to make proper user research due to the ranging pandemic. However, i made use of available resources which i explored to have a clear understanding of the world of music.

PERSONA

I created a fictional audience for my app to have a clear understanding of who i am designing for.

SKETCHES

After having a clear understanding of the goal and the audience of the app, I made rough sketches of the design.

WIREFRAMES

Wireframes creates a non-aesthetic feeling of the app, which made me focus on the functionality of the app, and in creating a great experience for my users.

WIREFLOWS

After creating low fidelity prototypes which is also called wireframes, I made a sample chart of the user journey on the app from the onboarding on the app to the final destination.

HIGH FIDELITY PROTOTYPES

MOODBOARD

It is important to make use of the current design, instead of introducing something new that can confuse your users, and this can affect your user’s experience which will reduce traffic. So before I commenced my design, I searched on Dribble and Pinterest for current design inspirations that will guide me in making my app design.

COLOR CHOICE

Red is a strong colour that symbolizes a burning passion, white conveys a sense of a new beginning, Black

This color palette is suitable for an app for finding talents.

TYPOGRAPHY

LATO AND PLAYFAIR DISPLAY: Playfair display fonts supports good readability for users, and it is well suited for headlines. It goes well with the Lato fonts.

LOGO

I made use of a simple Logo to communicate the idea of the app; the word TALBAN is coined from the two words, Talent and Band; the strokes on the letters of TALBAN, indicates a burning and spreading passion.

MAIN DESIGN

ONBOARDING

I made a straightforward onboarding design for the app, where the user can sign in directly with his/her google account, and choose between finding talents or bands.

SETTING UP A PROFILE

After the user decides his/her main aim of creating an account, The next step is to set up a profile based on the user’s previous choice:

Looking for talents: If the user is in search of talents, he/she creates a band profile that includes giving information about the name of the band, the website, a detailed description of the band, the present quantity of the band, the leader of the music band, the location of the band, the social media handles of the band. All these will help the talent have a full understanding of the band they are applying for.

Looking for bands: If the user is in search of bands, he/she creates a talent profile that includes giving information about the name of the talent, the email address, gender of the talent, the music role, A full description of the talent, previous experience, location of the talent, social media handles of the talent.

SEARCHING FOR BANDS/TALENTS

For a talent account: After setting up a profile, the next screen shows the list of available positions in different bands; suggested positions depending on the music role of the talent, the popular bands, nearby bands depending on the location of the talent.

For a band’s account: The next screen displays various talents ranging from singers to instrumentalists( guitarists, pianists, trumpeters, drummers).

APPLYING FOR A POSITION

A talent can apply for a position that matches his/her music role after going through the provided information about the position.

CREATING A POSITION

In a band account, a user can add a position, by supplying relevant information about the position: Title of the position, the suitable gender, description of the position, the expected requirements, the pay for the position, and the expected location of the talent.

CURRENT APPLICATIONS

In a talent account, the user can check through the current/previous applications, the saved applications, the applications in review by the band.

CURRENT POSITIONS

In a band’s account, the user can go through the list of the available positions that are yet to be filled, and the filled positions.

USER PROFILE

This screens show the talent and band’s profile. The user profiles displays the gender of the talent, the music role of the talent, and other useful information.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

This app will go a long way in connecting bands with suitable talents.
