Building an idea without a plan is a total waste of time. Having a plan is very important to the success of your idea, which brings me to a term called PRODUCT MANAGEMENT. Product management is a process of creating a strategy for the development of a product (new or existing) . When a product is managed effectively there are higher chan. The perso in charge of this is called a Product Manager.

PRODUCT MANAGER

A product manager in short terms is responsible for the success of a product by leading the development of the product from scratch to the final evaluation of the product.

In this write up, I will explain the function of the roles involved in the development of a product.

PROJECT MANAGER

This is most times confused as the product manager, But a project manager is more involved in the internal aspect of a product development. They work mostly with the developers and the designers. A project manager is responsible for working on the documentation, controlling the development process, communicating with stakeholders and clients, reporting the stages of the work to the clients and/or stakeholders.

PRODUCT DESIGNERS

They are the core team in product development. All teams in the product development depend on designers as a developer can not code without an actual design, and a marketer cannot market a non-existing product as well. A great design would drive more traffic which will increase the profit of a product. Having a product with a great design is very essential for a successful product.#

THE ENGINEERING TEAM

The role of the engineers in a product development is to build an actual product that is fit for the market. This comprises of the Front-end developers, Backend developers, Android developers. They come into play after the design has been tested by actual users.

MARKETING TEAM

The purpose of a product is not achieved if it has not reached it’s actual users. A good marketing team is very valuable to the success of a product. They take care of everything from key landing pages and website micro-copy to managing brand voice and image, defining user persona and learning about the customers, creating the product’s marketing strategy, communicating the product’s value to the market, developing sales tools for a product, pricing, customer feedback collection, market research, development of sales tools, and analysis of sales data.
